TWIN

Also known as a single, the Twin is the most common mattress size found in children’s rooms. It’s also the size used most commonly in trundle beds, daybeds, and hideaways. The Twin is designed to sleep one school-age child comfortably.

TWIN EXTRA LONG

5″ longer than a traditional Twin bed, the Twin XL is designed to sleep one person and is recommended for taller children.

FULL

The Full-size mattress (also referred to as a Double or Standard) is the perfect size for couples that enjoy close sleeping quarters. A Full-size mattress offers a spacious feel without crowding the bedroom or blocking walkways.

Full-size mattress is 15″ wider than a Twin and 5″ shorter than a Queen.

QUEEN

A Queen is America’s most commonly used mattress size. Equal in length but not nearly as wide as the King, a Queen is a great fit for small master bedrooms. Crammed for space? Have narrow doorways and staircases?

KING

The King (aka Eastern King) is the widest standard bed available. Roomy enough for two large adults, the King is 16″ wider than a Queen. The King is a very large mattresses and may not easily fit into some rooms.

With its longer length, taller people may prefer the California King.

CALIFORNIA KING

Also known as a Western King, the Cal King is 4″ shorter in width but is 4″ inches taller than a standard King mattress.

Cal King-size mattresses are great for extra-large master bedrooms and offer couples a very spacious sleeping environment with added length for taller individuals.

Because a California King size bed is large and more difficult to maneuver, a Cal King size box spring come in two pieces for your convenience. Given its size, customers should be sure to measure their rooms to see if they can accommodate a Cal King mattress.

SPLIT QUEEN

For two people who share a bed, a queen-size bed offers more room than a full. However, a queen-size bed has limitations, especially in smaller homes with stairwells and narrow hallways.

As an alternative, the split-queen bed offers the same sleeping space as a queen; however, the components are smaller and easier to maneuver.

SPLIT CALIFORNIA KING

Typically the split version is purchased when buying an adjustable base.

This allows for independent movement for each individual. If you have small hallways or narrow staircases the split eases the moving and assembly process also.

FULL EXTRA LONG

Full size or also known as a ‘double/standard’ was commonly used for two adults 30 – 40 years ago when the homes and bedrooms were built much smaller.

Now it is usually purchased for single person use and sometimes smaller guest rooms.

It is a tight fit for two adults and the same length as a twin. Two adults sleeping on a full size is equivalent to each person sleeping on a crib mattress (27 inches of sleep space).

Most people with a sleeping partner opt for the queen size. Full can sometimes be special ordered in extra long.
